Use of greenhouse with plastic cover and windbreak in rubber root-stock production, in Campinas region, São Paulo state
Abstract in English
A fieId experiment was carried out with aim to study the effect of two parciaIly protect environment: a greenhouse cover with transparent polyethylene with short density and a windbreak plastic, during the growing stage of rubber root-stock, during the winter season in Campinas, State of São Paulo, Brazil. Three pIots were conducted with rubber root-stock: one inside the greenhouse, the second protect by windbreak and the third without any protection. To analyse the young plants of rubber, it was mensured: diameter, height, leaf area, and dry weight. The cIimatic elements mensured were: air temperature and humidity , soil temperature, wind speed, solar global radiation, net radiation, and leaf temperature. In the experimental condition, the resuIts showed that protect plants by windbreaks did not present significative difference in the growing stage in relation to the no protect pIants. But the use of greenhouse caused a increment in diameter (60%), height (108%), Ieaf area (266%), and dry weight (286%) of the root-stock. Atfer six months, considering a minimum diameter of 8 mm to realize green budding, 60% of root- stock conducted inside the greenhouse were aptted to be budded, while in the two other treatments, the plants did not reach the minimum diameter. The greater growing of the plants inside of the greenhouse was due microclimatics modifications caused by the modified environment. The mean air temperature and the mean maximun air temperature increase by 2.7°C and 5.6 °C, respectiviely. Also, increase in the air relative humidity, soil temperature and leaf temperature
