Effect of nitrogen of fertilizers: urea (15N) and aqua ammonia (15 applied in sugarcane culture soils.
Abstract in English
The objective of this work is to study the dynamic of nitrogen from urea and aqua ammonia sources in soil cropped with sugarcane (Saccharum spp) by means of isotopic 15N techniques to determine the fate of the nitrogen in terms of leaching, volatilization, plant uptake and nitrogen residues in the soil. The field studies were conducted at a site in Usina São José, Macatuba-SP. The SP 70- 1143 sugarcane cultivar (3rd ratoon) was used in Latossolo Vermelho-Arnarelo (LVA - sandy soil), which is representative of 45% of the region. The experimental design consisted of two nitrogen fertilizer treatments: one with urea the other with aqua ammonia and a third without nitrogen fertilization. Each treatment consisted of a plot with 15 rows, ten meters long with spacing of 1.40 rneters. Three subplots in each of the two nitrogen fertilizer plots were delimitated for 15 N applications. Each of these subplots were represented by 3 lines 1.5m long. Tensiometers, soil solution extractors and soil air collectors were installed on these subplots. The nitrogen fertilizer was applied at a dose of 100kg of N/ha 20cm deep and 15cm from the plant row. The labelled 15N nitrogen fertilizer consisted of urea -15N (3.413 atoms % 15N) and aqua ammonia (3.181 atms % 15N). The results obtained showed the following values for the nitrogen utilization efficiency aqua ammonia: 18.4% and urea: 14.4%. It was also observed that 25% (aqua ammonia) and 21% (urea) of nitrogen taken up by plants was found in the buried rhizospheres and roots. The mean value of the amount of N-NH3 volatilization from the soil was 0.15kg of N/ha during a period of 47 days. Only 2% was from the urea and aqua ammonia fertilizers. The residual nitrogen in the soil, until the depth of 1.25m was 22.8kg N/ha for urea and 13.5kg for aqua ammonia. The nitrogen leaching bellow the depth of 1.0m for the urea treatment was for times greater than that of the ammonia one.
