Architectural variability and variation of soybean root system under influence of phosphorus in the soil
Abstract in English
For more than 70 years, there is accordance that the best procedure to obtain an idea about the root system in more discrete details (root hairs) is the mental model. The first symbolic pattern proposed to capture the knowledge of it was the draw made from roots in a soil profile view, but the root architecture is not a bi-dimensional relation between apparent fractions (branches) of root systems. The root architecture, as a static structure, corresponds to its variability, what is a concept depending on its extraction and the attempt to visualize its complexity. Variation is inherent of architecture behavior, intrinsic to the environmental pressure. So, the root architecture concept does not have to keep disconnected to the continuum idea. Man has yet Iimited knowledge about root architecture in its complex development in darkness. Therefore, under a broader approach, the unique solution for the capture of the entire root architecture is to adopt a contemporary way of thinking, setting up the aggregation of new concepts about systems and virtual memory patterns. This give us the basis to support the analogy about the architectural behavior from a incomplete analysis of the root systems, or better, of the static elements components of its residual memory. Thus, in this study, it could be inferred information about variability and variation in soybean root system (Glycíne max (L.) Merril) under influence of phosphorus in the soil. Thought, in root systems, the abstracted shape is a contingence of the fractal dimension reached under a dynamic cognitive process
