Title in English
Influence of branches induction in development of rubber tree (Hevea spp.) rootstocks
Abstract in English
The main objective of this work was to study the effects of branch induction in leaf area and consequentely in stem diameter in rootstocks of rubber tree. The trial carried at the School of Agriculture "Luiz de Queiroz", University of São Paulo in Piracicaba, State of São Paulo. The experiment was delineated in blocks of random in 4 repetitions using as treatments the branch induction in second, third, fourth, and fifth flush of leaves in the hardened stage and control. During the experiment were done avaluations referring to the leaf and leaflet number, leaf area, dry wheight of stem, leafs and root, stem diameter, and others. In the conditions that was conducted the experiment, the results obtained, showed that: branch induction method didn't present significatives effects in stem diameter and leaf area and influenced significantly the branches number and specific leaf area; as well as it was concluded that branch induction shouldn't be recommended to nurseries with high planting densities
