Effects of growth regulators on the rooting of softwood cuttings of peach tree (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch), under mist
Abstract in English
A study was made about the rooting of softwood cuttings of peach tree Doçura 2, Petisco 2, Precocinho and Okinawa. The cuttings were immersed in, 2000, 2000 and 3000 p.p.m. solution of IBA diluted in postas - sium hidroxide 5,0 N, at the base of woods during 5 s, also rooted in the presence of rootone F(IBA + ANA) in powder, under mist. After 40 days data on the number of softwood cuttings and the number of roots were colected to analyse the results for the cultivars and growth regulators behavior. The cultivars had significant different behavior, both related to the number of rooted cuttings and the number of roots per cuttings. The Doçura2 cultivar showed higher number of rooted cuttings, more than 90%. There were no significant in relation to the number of rooting cuttings between the growth regulators Rootone F and IBA, but, the Rootone F showed lower to number of formed roots. The IBA best levels for rooted cuttings and number of formed roots were 1000 and 2000 p.p.m. The quadratic regression showed a maximun around 1800 p.p.m. for the number of rooted cuttings, wich coincides with the maximun point of the quadratic regression for the formed roots. The cubioc regression also showed also showed statistical significance for the numbers of rooted cuttings, wich suggest that studies with more levels of IBA should be pursued
