Irrigation efficiency and water distribution uniformity in sprinkler irrigation system
Abstract in English
This study had the scope to verify the relationship between uniformity coefficients and irrigation efficiency for sprinkler systems. It was evaluated the field pattern test data of two sprinkler types operating in two different pressures. In order to simulate the distribution pattern of 13 chosen sprinkler spacings, a computer program was uti1ized to overlap the precipitation of each field test and estimate the uniformity coefficients of Christiansen, Wilcox, Hart, Benami, and Criddle Standard Efficiency. The linear and normal models were fitted to the water distribution data. A linear regression was performed to relate the data of adimensional depths of land area adequately irrigated to the data of the Christiansen Uniformity Coefficient and the Criddle Standard Efficiency. It was observed through the results that the most adequate sprinkler spacing can be determined by the values of the uniformity coefficients excluding those values of null precipitation in the irrigated area. Also was observed that there was no significant difference between the linear and the normal models for three groups of coefficient of variation. The adimensional depths and the Christiansen Uniformity Coefficient and Standard Efficiency of Criddle showed significant 1inear relationship. Finally, it was found that application the efficiency is linearly proportional to the Christiansen uniformity Coefficient and 1inearly inversely proportional to the adequately irrigated area.
