Title in English
Development and confirmation of a mathematical model to simulate the performance of an oscillatory fertilizer spreader
Abstract in English
In order to simulate the performance of an oscillatory fertilizer spreader, a mathematical model, based on the theory of centrifugal spreaders, was developed to estimate the width of the transversal swath. The model simulates the discharge of a great number of particles and to analyse their trajectories an IBM/PC microcomputer was used. The results of the simulation were compared with the experimental data obtained for a 04-14-08 granular fertilizer. To analyse the results, the maximum width and the shape of the swath were compared with the experimental swath. Experimental data showed that the swath is symmetric and therefore, it was possible to study one half of it. The model simulated a 10,0 m swath of application while the experimental reached a width of 13.2 m. An increase of 6,0 % of the simulated total particle mass was observed when compared with the experimental one. Finally, it was concluded the model is adequate to simulate an oscillatory spreader the adopted simplifying hypothesis.
