Introdução - A imagem corporal refere-se à figura existente na mente do indivíduo acerca do tamanho, forma e estrutura corporais. Caracteriza-se por ser um constructo multidimensional que envolve no mínimo, dois componentes independentes: a percepção e a atitude. Objetivo - Traduzir três instrumentos (OSIQ, BESAA e EEICA) e verificar evidências de validade, reprodutibilidade, tempo de aplicação e a compreensão verbal de sete instrumentos (EAC, OSIQ, BSQ, ES, BESAA, BIQ, EEICA). Métodos - Participaram 386 adolescentes regularmente matriculados em uma escola particular de ensino. Avaliou-se a consistência interna por meio do coeficiente α de Cronbach, a validade discriminante pelas diferenças das médias, segundo estado nutricional (desnutrido, eutrófico, sobrepeso e obesidade), por meio do Teste de Kruskal Wallis. A validação concorrente foi realizada calculando-se o coeficiente de correlação de Spearmari entre as escalas e o Índice de massa corporal (IMC), a razão circunferência quadril (RCQ) e a circunferência da cintura (CC). Para reprodutibilidade utilizou-se o teste t pareado, o coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (rintraclasse) e os gráficos de Bland & Altman. Resultados - As escalas foram traduzidas e não apresentaram maiores discordâncias com o documento original. Os instrumentos (EAC, BSQ, BESAA, BIQ, EEICA) apresentaram boa consistência interna (variação do α de Cronbach de 0,60 a 0,90), para todos os sub-grupos estudados (amostra total, sexo masculino, feminino e meninos e meninas em fase inicial e final de adolescência). A ES, a EEICA e a BESSA peso, foram capazes de discriminar os quatro grupos estudados em todos os sub-grupos. Na análise concorrente, a ES correlacionou-se com as três medidas (IMC, RCQ e CC) pesquisadas. O BIQ satisfação, BIQ importância e a EEICA confirmaram a reprodutibilidade para todos os sub-grupos pesquisados. O instrumento com melhor compreensão foi a ES e o pior foi o OSIQ. A ES foi a mais rápida e a EEICA e o BSQ as que demandaram maior tempo no preenchimento. Conclusões - As escalas OSIQ, BESAA, BIQ e a EEICA encontram-se traduzidas e adaptadas para o português. A ES e a EEICA apresentaram os melhores resultados, sendo recomendadas para avaliação do aspecto perceptivo da imagem corporal para adolescentes.

Background- Body image is the picture in an individual's mind of his or her body size, shape and structure. It is a multidimensional construct that involves at least two independent components: the perceptual and the attitudinal. Objective - The translation of 3 instruments (OSIQ, BESAA and EEICA) and verification of the validity, reliability, application time and the verbal comprehension of 7 instruments (EAC, OSIQ, BSQ, ES, BESAA, BIQ, EEICA). Methods - Participants were 386 teenagers enrolled in a private school. Internai consistency was evaluated with Cronbach's α, the discriminative validity by comparison of means according to the nutritional state (undernourished, normal weight, overweight and obese) using the Kruskal Wallis Test. Concurrent validity was evaluated the Spearman correlation coefficient between scores and the corporal mass index (IMC), the hip circumferential ratio (RCQ) and the waist circumference (CC). Reproducibility was evaluated using the paired T test, the coefficient of the interclass correlation (rintercl ass) and Bland & Altman graphs. Results - Translated and back-translated scales showed good agreement with the original documents. The instruments (EAC, BSQ, BESAA, BIQ, EEICA) had good internai consistency (Cronbach's α of 0,60 to 0,90) in all the subgroups studied (total sample, males, females, males and females in each of early and late adolescence). The ES, EEICA and BESSA weight scales were able to discriminate the four actual weight groups in ali subgroups. In the concurrent analysis, the ES correlated with the other three measures (IMC, RCQ e CC) studied. The BIQ satisfaction scale, BIQ importance scale, and EEICA had good reproducibility for ali subgroups studied. The instrument best understood was the ES and the worst understood was the OSIQ. The ES was the fastest, and the EEICA and BSQ took the longest time to complete. Conclusions - The OSIQ, BESAA, BIQ and EEICA scales were successfuliy translated and adapted to Portuguese. The ES and the EEICA gave the best results and are recommended to evaluate perceptual aspects of body image for adolescents.
