Abstract in English
Previous studies have already demonstrated different vector agents of Salmonella spp. in the poultry industry, with darkling beetles (Alphitobius diaperinus) being a pest of great importance and the most studied. However, the objective of this work was to show that other arthropods can also be carriers of this bacterium. The sample collections were carried out around the aviaries of breeding birds and analyzed in the Quality Control Laboratory located in the city of Guapiaçu, SP. The results obtained confirm the suspicion and show a large percentage of animals positive for Salmonella spp. and some of their serotypes in arthropods of various orders. The data showed that future investigations of epidemiology can contribute to a better understanding of batch contamination.
