Abstract in English
The relationship between architecture and cinema is close and long-standing. Films, as a form of representation, often come close to the experience of architecture. In many cinematic productions, this architecture transcends its purely ornamental function in the plot, becoming a cinematic agente, being reinterpreted through the lenses of cinema. In the cinematic realm, dystopias stand out as creative territories for exploring ideas related to destruction and transformation. Dystopian settings provide directors and teams with a chance to explore collective fears and offer critical analyses of society. These cinematic representations serve as a reflection of contemporary apprehensions, exploring societal tensions. The research aims to analyze specific architectural representations in dystopian films, focusing on those in which architecture plays a central role in the narrative. These representations may initially appear utopian but reveal dystopian and problematic aspects. Therefore, the following films have been selected: The Truman Show (by Peter Weir, 1998), El Hombre de al Lado (by Mariano Cohn and Gastón Duprat, 2009), and High-Rise (by Ben Wheatley, 2015).
