Esta dissertação pretende analisar as narrativas expositivas sobre a imigração judaica no Brasil presentes na exposição de longa duração do Memorial da Imigração Judaica e do Holocausto. A instituição é sediada no edifício da Kehilat Israel, a primeira sinagoga do estado de São Paulo, fundada em 1912 por imigrantes judeus da Bessarábia. A pesquisa consiste em estudo de caso baseado em uma análise qualitativa, que propicia um olhar crítico em direção ao objeto. A metodologia empregada é a decupagem da exposição: descrição, transcrição e fotografia; em uma tentativa de tratá-la como documento. Por meio deste procedimento o objetivo é mapear o espaço e guiar o leitor pela exposição, extraindo seus sentidos e valores. Divididas em três andares as narrativas nos conduzem a uma trajetória que apresenta a chegada dos imigrantes ao país, seguida do que foi trazido por essas pessoas e terminando com o que elas fizeram em sua nova terra. Neste percurso expositivo consolida-se uma identidade. O trabalho se dedica, ainda, a refletir sobre a natureza do memorial no contexto da musealização, a tipologia do museu e as intersecções entre História, Memória e Identidade, confrontando o discurso institucional com uma fortuna crítica relacionada aos Estudos Judaicos, Museologia, Historiografia da Imigração e Memória Social.

This dissertation intends to analyze the exhibitionary narratives concerning the Jewish immigration to Brazil presented by the long-term exhibition of the Jewish Immigration and Holocaust Memorial. This institution is located in the building of Kehilat Israel, the first synagogue in the state of São Paulo, founded in 1912 by Jewish immigrants from Bessarabia. The research comprises a case study based on a qualitative approach, which promotes a critical outlook towards the subject. The methodology employed consists in the description, transcription, and photography of the exhibitionary space, in order to make the documental handling of the exhibition possible. In performing these procedures, the aim is to map the space and guide the reader through the exhibition, eliciting its meanings and values. The exhibitionary narratives, which spam three floors, lead us through a course that presents the arrival of the immigrants in the country, followed by what was brought by these people and concluding with what they accomplished in their new land. This exhibition route consolidates an identity. The present research also turns to reflecting on the nature of the memorial in the context of musealization processes, the typology of this museum and the overlaps between History, Memory, and Identity, contraposing the discourses presented by the institutions to a critical fortune related to Jewish Studies, Museum Studies, Immigration Historiography, and Social Memory.
