Abstract in English
The study was conducted in the Fortaleza Municipality, State of Ceará, with the purpose of investigating the beachs and dunes, with emphasis in the agronomics aspects. The works of geomorphology, soils, vegetation, climate, geology and hidrography, besides the source and characteristics of the beach and dunas of the area were surveyed and discussed. As a basic material, various maps had been utilized, with different scales and provenances, as well as aerial photographies of approximate scales of 1:8.000 of 1972. The investigation comprised office, field and laboratory work in several stages. The office included the revision of literature, the photographic analysis, the classification and cartography of the elements. In the field the photo-analysis was checked, the morphologic and description of the soils was developed, samples of the soils were collected for laboratory analysis. Preliminary analysis of the local geology and vegetation aspects were also conducted. In laboratory, the physical, chemical and fertility aspects of the soils samples were analysed. Importants results and conclusions were as follows: a - A key for photointerpretation of tha elements surveyed - beachs, dunas, blow-out land, “playas”, beach rock.s and marshes - was developed; b - A direct correspondence was found between different soil unities (1 , 2 and 3) and tha migrants, semi-fixed and fixed dunes, respectively; e - Some limitant factors related to the soil unities were determined; d - The vegetation of dune areas was classifiad in two main types: mixed and herbaceous, and e - Recommendations for the management and conservation of the dunes were, finally, drawn.
