Abstract in English
Cultivars and strains of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) were tested as to their susceptibility to infestation by the javanese root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica (Treub, 1885) Chitwood, 1949. A pot experiment was carried out at the Department of Plant Pathology of Escola Superior de Agricultura “Luiz de Queiroz”, in Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil, from March 19th to April 22nd, 1979. On the 21st and 35th days after inoculation of seedlings, an evaluation of the number of larvae, females, egg-masses, and galls found on different types of roots was made. Cultivars Hill and Pine del Perfection were found to be the most favorable, Santa Rosa and Govan being the least favorable cultivars to the parasite.
