Abstract in English
A trial was carried out in the Escola Superior de Agricultura “Luiz de Queiroz”, in Piracicaba, Brazil, in order to check the effects of size on cassava's cuts (5, 10, 15 and 20 cm) on both, vigor and initial development of their shoots. Percentage of sprouting, emergency velocity, weight of total dry matter, dry weight of aerial part, dry weight of total roots, average dry weight of leaves, average dry weight of stem shoots, average leaf area and total leaf area were evaluated in two different shoots growth stages. Results showed that vigor and initial development were directly related to the size of cassava’s cuts studied.
