Abstract in English
Cotton seedlings (Gossypium hirsutum L., var. IAC 12) were cultivated in polyetilene containers with 1.5 liters of nutrient solution without boron. The series of treatment consisted of no addition to the level of 1.0 ppm of boron in the nutrient solution. At forty days the plants were harvested and separated in leaves (olds matures and news), petioles, stems and roots. Leaves deficiency symptoms were described and anatomical alteration were observed. The content in D, N, P, K, Ca and Mg were determined in the parts of the plants cited above. Deficiency symptoms and anatomical alteration were observed from none to 0.12 ppm of boron in the solution. The mature leaves are the most sensitive tissue to indicate the nutrition status in boron. The critical levels founded in the leaves are: old leaves 34 ppm in dry matter; mature leaves 30 ppm in dry matter and new leaves 26 ppm in dry matter.
