Abstract in English
This paper deals with the measurement of soil losses from samples taken from the upper horizon of two soil series occurring in the Piracicaba Municipality. The experiment was a 25 factorial, in which the factors studied were: Soil (Quebra-Dente Series and Luiz de Queiroz Series); Mulch (with and without); Slope (5 and 9%); Intensity of simulated rain (63,50 and 82,55 mm/h); Time of simulated rain (15 and 30 min.). The Pardue Sprinkling Infiltrometer of BERTRAND and PARR (7) modified at E.S.A. “Luiz de Queiroz” was used as a rain simulator. The soil of the Quebra-Dente Soil Series was considerably more resistant to water erosion than the Luiz de Queiroz Soil Series. Under all of the conditions tested mulch showed to be highly efficient in the control of water erosion in both of the studied soils.
