O estudo consiste basicamente na investigação dos reflexos provocados pela crise cafeeira de 1929 na estrutura produtiva de Dumont, com a análise da evolução da estrutura agrária, bem como das condições de vida dos trabalhadores agrícolas antes e depois da crise. A principal conclusão a que levou a investigaçao foi o fato da crise apresentar reflexos distintos para os diversos grupos que compunham a estrutura produtiva de Dumont. Os mais afetados pela crise foram os proprietários da terra, que a partir dela assistiram à decomposição progressiva de seus negócios, enquanto que os detentores de trabalho viram facilitado, de forma significativa, seu acesso às terras.

The study consists in an investigation about changes in Dumont’s productive structure caused by the coffee crisis of 1929. It analyses both the evolution of the agrarian structure and the living conditions of rural workers, before and after the crisis. Its main conclusion is that the crisis affected differently the various groups of Dummont’s productive structure. The landlords were the most affected group and after the crisis their activities progressively deteriorated. On the other hand the workers had their access to the ownership of land significantly favoured.
