MORANGO HÍBRIDO
Abstract in English
The objective of the present work was to determine strawberry hybrids best fitted to the ecological conditions of the municipality of Botucatu. Hybrid behavior assays were carried out during the years off 1970, 1971, and 1972 at the Experimental Station “Presidente Médici”, located in the municipality of Botucatu – SP at 22°52’55” latitude south, 48°26’22” longitude west o Greenwich, and 830m. of altitude. The strawberry hybrids tested in the assays were: IAC-2529; IAC-3593; IAC-3975; IAC-4201; (IAC-3113 x IAC-3530); (IAC-3530 x IAC-3592): (IAC-3113 x (IAC-2712 x I-2008)), and the cultivar Campinas (IAC-2712). The latter was included as a control, once it is the most cultivated in the State of São Paulo. Randomized blocks with four repetitions and eight treatments represented the experimental design applied each plot was composed of twelve plants which were set in a 0.40 x 0.40m plant spacing. Hybrids were compared through: production o early fruits and total of commercial fruits; small fruit production; the period from leal emergence to leaf senescence; ontogenetic period of the fruits; shape of the fruits; percent of fruits damaged by fungi; susceptibility to Mycosphaerella fragariae (Tull.) Lindau; chemical analysis of the fruits (pH, brix, titrable acidity, ascorbic acid and reducing sugar). The analysis and interpretation of results allowed the following conclusions, among others: a) The hybrids behaved differently from one year to another in relation to production of early fruits as well as to total of commercial fruits; b) The hybrids varied among them with respect to sensibility to low temperature for flowering induction; c) The hybrid IAC-4201 was the most productive among the hybrids studied.
