Abstract in English
The present work had the following objectives: the mineralogical study of heavy coarser fraction, by the application of statistics methods in order to test the hypothesis of parent material uniformity; study of ratios in the heavy coarser fractions, searching for the most reliable; field profile morphology and aspects of particle size distribution study for the establishment of lithologic discontinuities. Three soil profiles from the municipality of São Pedro - S. P., situated in occurrence area of Regosol intergrade to Red-Yellow Podzolic and Regosol intergrade to Red-Yellow Latosol, were used in this work. The results showed the following conclusions: a) the rations of the heavy mineral fractions, used together, proved the lithological discontinuities observed in field work; b) the stone lines absence did not prove the parent material uniformity; c) using combinations of others parameters, probably, it could be possible most reliable conclusions in stablishing parent material homogeneity.
