Title in English
Evaluation of the method edaphic-phytodepuration for preliminary treatment of waters
Abstract in English
The most important parameters (BOD5, Total and Fecal Coliformes, turbidity, color and inorganic compounds) for characterization of drinking water were analysed during the period of june/1986 to june/1987. The efficiency of two systems for water descontamination were studied during this period. The first system studied was a combination of floting aquatic plants and soil beds cultivated with rice. The area of the system with aquatic plants was 4,320 m2 and the area of the soil beds was 2,014 m2. The flow in the system with aquatic plants was constant during the whole experiment time and equal to 40 1/s, corresponding to a flow was 20 1/s equivalent to 99 1/s/ha. The second system studied was a sequence of two soils beds cultivated with rice, with a total area of 410 m2. The flow was also constant and equal to 2 1/s, equivalent to 49 1/s/ha. The data obtained during one year of the experiment showed that both systems can reduce significantly the most important parameters of the water, such as total and fecal coliformes, BOD5, turbidity color and inorganic compounds.
