Abstract in English
Agronomic Experimentation is a difficult and dangerous technique especially when one wants to make about decisions bettering his rnethod to be utilized in his work. The present work has as an objective the introduction to Sequential Analysis specifically to the Sequential t-test in respect to its power and robustness when compareci with another equivalent test which is not sequential. Such a comparison is dane by a data simulation technique thus getting results which when well utilized are very efficient for the purpose. The number of observations is a function of one infinite sequence of data with a probability equal to 1 to get to a decision whether to accept or reject the hypothesis H0 : = 0 in favor of H1 : = . Data are simulated by the sub-routine UNNOR (Appendix with a Normal distribution of average and variance 2. For the fixed risks a number of rejections are obtained for each case, non-rejections of the nullity hypothesis inspite of the expectation and variance of N. The calculations of the average number of observations for the sequential t-test are dane with the intention of comparing with a number of observations for the Student t-test, thus verifyng that on the average fewer observations are necessary for the sequential test. When an alternativa hypothesis is close to the null hypothesis, it is verified in this work that the number of observa- tions required by the sequential test is, on the average, half of that required by the Student t-test, thus agreeing with the results presented by the traditional literatura. From the way by which the alternative hypothesis is itself distant from nullity the relation between the number of observations presented by the tests keeps decreasing to wards distant alternativas until they equalise themselves. The power for the tests is calculated and in all the cases studied of the sequential t-tests, it is more on the average. An estimate of the probability of deciding upon the more powerfull test (Sequential or non-sequential) wrongly is obtained and a result as high as 16,80% is gotten in the worst condition. The Power Function and the Average Sample Size for = 1,00 are presented in graphs. Along witer other conclusions reached_ the present work verifies that the non-normality study of data allows the conclusion that sequential t-test is not strongly affected by the principles for which it was formed; thus characterising move, in this way, its robustness.
