Title in English
Biologycal, physical and chemical control of Phytophthora parasitica Dastur in citrus seedlings.
Abstract in English
This paper describes some techniques used for biological, physical and chemical control of gummosis, eaused by Phytophthora parasitica Dastur, aiming the production of high quality seedlings of citrus rootstock in containers. Potentially antagonistic isolates of Trichoderma obtained from baits (sterile wheat seeds colonized by Phytophthora) and grown on rice meal, were highly efficient to eradicate the pathogen from the previously inoculated substrate (compost) used for growing the rootstoek seedlings. Solarization of P. parasitica-inoculated substrate was also highly efficient, killing the pathogen within 24 hrs, with in summer and in winter in the solar collector, and withim 48 hrs in summer, when in transparent plastic bags. For the Chemical control of P. parasitica, selected products were first tested "in vitro" to screen the ones with higher inhibition potentials; these were then used in the containers, under greenhouse conditions. The treatments done using metalaxyl eradicated the pathogen from the soil.
