Abstract in English
Fortnightly field surveys were made to study the relationship between the foliar resistance of Saccharum sp toColletotricrum falcatum went and to Diatraea saccharalis Fabricius, 1794 and the stalk red rot as well as the epidemiological consequences of the resistance to the incidence of the stalk rot. The following data in percentage values, were determined in fields of NA 56-79, IAC 52 -150, CB 41-76, CB 46-47, CB 47-355 and CB- 56-126 sugar-cane hybrid: infected leaves; foliar lesion area; bored stalk D. saccharalis bored stalk infected by C. falcatum; red rot lesion volume in bored staks; stalk with red rot (entire field) and lesion volume of red rot (entire field). All these data were studied in a entirely randomized design under three mathematical mode ls of transformation: monomolecular, logistic and Gompertz models. For each parameter of each hybrid it was determined a linear equation with the three transformations (total of 12 6 equations), whose resolution coefficient (R2) was deterrnined by the application of the variance analysis, to select the best transformation model. Also utilizing only the logistic model, a linear equation was determined to each to the 5 replications of each of the parameters of the 6 sugarcane hybrids, in a total of 210 equations. In this case, the area between the curve and the abscissa was estimated. The increasing rate (r), the initial value of the parameter (x0) and the area between the curve and t h e abscissa were analysed by applying the F and Tukey's tests. The results obtained allow to concludes that: the more adequate transformation model to the system sugar-cane - C. falcatum - D. saccharalis is the logistic, the foliar resistance of sugar-cane to C. falcatum has no epidemilogical significance to the incidence of the stalk red rot, then it is not necessary to include tests of foliar resistance to C. falcatum in the breeding programs of sugar-cane, the incidence of the sugar-cane stalk red rot is, primarily; related to the incidence of the stalk borer.
