Title in English
Characterization of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria (Doidge) dye from (Capsicum annuum L.) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) by pathogenicity, serology, starch hydrolysis and drug sensibility
Abstract in English
Twelve isolates of X. campestris pv. vesicatoria six from pepper and six from tomato, were compared with respect to pathogenicity, serology, starch hidrolysis and drug sensibility. Isolates of pepper were pathogenically diferente from those of tomato on pepper (cv. Cascadura Ikeda and line 23-1-7 BK) and on tomato (cv. UC-134), by both leaf spray and leaf infiltration method of inoculation. Pepper isolates were serologically distinct from those of tomato. All isolates of tomato hydrolysed starch, while those of pepper could not do so. Also, all isolates of tomato were more sensible than those of pepper to copper-tiocarbamate fungicide mixtures (copper hydroxide or copper oxychloride plus maneb or mancozebor zineb and copper oxide plus zineb).
