Influence of insect's pollination on the production and the fruits characteristics of the orange tree cultivar “Piralima" (Citrus sinensis Osbeck)
Abstract in English
The research was carried out with the objective to test the influence of the honey bee visits on the yields and the quality of the fruits of the orange tree cultivar "piralima" grafted o 'Rangpur Lime' (Citrus sinensis Osbeck). The experimental design was a random with nine replications. The treatments were as follow: 1. plants are caged to exclude bees - individual trees were covered to prevent honey bees from visiting the flowers; 2. plants on wich a linen blanket was putted over to check if the linen would interfere in the physiologic process of the plants; 3. plants are uncaged - the trees were not covered and were totally free to the honey bees were in the area. The fruits were weight and counted at harvest time, and 24 fruits were separated of each replication to quality analysis, and they were observed about the fruits form, the seeds number and weight, juice %, soluble solids %, acid % and the relation of soluble solids per acidness. The analysis of the results revealed that there were positive influence on pollination increasing fruits number for plant at harvest time; juice % and acid % of the juice. However, there were no statistically significant differences in fruits weight for plant at harvest time, seeds number and weight and soluble solids % of the juice
