Title in English
Brachiaria decumbens Stapf and Cyperus rotundus L. control in sugarcane (Saccharum spp) area by peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) rotation integrated with herbicides utilization
Abstract in English
With the objective of studing the control of weeds in the sugarcane culture by rotation peanut and sugarcane integrated with the utilization of differents herbicides, this research was carried out in Araras - SP, in Dark Red Ortho Latosol soi1. The experimental delineation adopted consisted of randomized blocks with split plots, constituted of 6 replications, being the treatments: (a) - Peanut in rotation with application of trifluralin at 0.890 kg of active ingredient a.i./ha; (b) - Peanut in rotation with application of alachlor at 2.400 kg of a.i./ha; (c) - Peanut in rotation weed free by hoe and (d) - Check without rotation and without weed control; the sub-treatments were sugarcane with application of tebuthiuron at 1.200 kg of a.i./ha; sugarcane with the application of ametrin at 2.400 kg of a.i./ha; sugarcane weed free by hoe and check, sugarcane without weed control. Analyses of infesting weeds in the area were qualitative and quantitative, through the counting of number of plants per square meter. Peanut culture yield was evaluated by means of weight of shucks dried under the sun. In the sugarcane culture stalk growth was measured monthly, technological quality carvied at harvest, and the agricultural yield of millable stalks at the end of the culture cycle. The achieved results allowed the conclusion that Brachiaria decumbens Stapf was easily controlled with the application of trifluralin and Cyperus rotundus L. was only partially controlled with alachlor. For the elimination of competition of weeds the peanut culture two weedings, berore the closing over of the culture, were enough. Sugarcane planted after peanut harvest had its productivity increased in relation to areas where peanut rotation did not occur, specially a consequence of shorter weed incidence. The B. decumbens infestation degree decreased in sugarcane culture when it was previously cultivated with peanut, mainly when the control of it was made with trifluralin.
