Influence of the phenologic stage of the Crotalaria juncea L . and (Piper e Tracy) Holland on the decomposition of phytomass and their fertilizer effect.
Abstract in English
The purpose this work was to evaluate the effect of development on the percentile composition of C, N and C/N relationship of the sunnhemp (Crotalaria juncea L.) and velvet bean (Mucuna aterrima) (Piper e Tracy) Holland and the influence of the cutting time on the dry matter yield, chemical composition, C and N accumulation, decomposition rate and on the fertilizer effect of dry matter on the millet (Panicum miliaceum L.). In a field experiment with the two leguminous crops, samples were taken every 28 days to determine their chemical composition. Dry matter yield was evaluated at: preflowering, flowering, frutification and maturation. In the laboratory, the dry matter from four phenological phases was incubated to measure the envolved CO2. While in glass house, the same dry matter was incorporated and evaluated by their fertilizer effect on millet sown 15, 30 and 45 days after incorporation. Sunnhemp had greater N content at flowering and velvet bean at frutification, C/N relation varied inversely with N content. In the first the lowest value was attained at the flowering and in the second frutification. The greatest acumulation of dry matter, C and N was attained at frutification, while the highest dry matter yield was at frutification and maturation for both species. For the sunnhemp the greatest N accumulation occurred at the flowering and frutification stages and for the velvet bean at last one and maturity. No significant difference was observed on the CO2 evolved by incubation of the sunnhemp and velvet bean's dry matter. The differences on C/N did not affect the CO2 production. Sunnhemp dry matter at preflowering and flowering stages increased the dry matter yield of millet, specialy the treatments of 30 and 45 days after incorporation, while at frutification and maturation stages it decreased, mainly the last one. The velvet bean's dry matter promoted higher yields, but with no treatment differences. Sunnhemp at flowering stage promoted a higher N assimilation, while similar effects were observed between velvet bean´s dry matter.
