Abstract in Portuguese
Estacas herbáceas do cv.

Vegetative propagation of mango tree (Mangifera indica L.) through cutting
Abstract in English
The main objective of this research was to study the vegetative propagation of mango tree through cutting. The trial was carried out at Universidade of São Paulo, Campus of Piracicaba, São Paulo State, Brazil. All vegetative cuttings of Tommy-Atkins cultivar were treated, even with without etiolation, by basal application of indol-butiric acid (IBA) at concentrations: 0 and 5000 ppm per 10 seconds, with mechanical process of incision or strangling. Experimental design was completely randomized, factorial outline 2 x 2 x 4, with four replications ten cuttings per treatment. It were evaluated percentages of rooting formation and cuttings survival. The trial was done by intermittent mist conditions from January till June, 1992. After rooting formation in, fact, it were collected samples from the basis of cuttings at all treatments, from recent-developed seedlings and from young plants with .one-year-old at Espada cultivar, doing posterior histhological analysis. Better results were got on treataments without etiolation with incision, which ones showed rooting of 4;5% and 47,5% without IBA, and 60% and 75% with IBA, showing that incision is necessary. Just mechanical treatments done structural changes on cutting basis, resulting on fibers separation on esclerenquimatic ring and the origin of first roots was endogene and always associated to cambia region. Beyond physic barrier made by esclerenquimatic ring, maybe some other factor could be interfering on rooting capacity of cultivar.
