Physiological potential evaluation of pepper seed (Capsicum annuum L.)
Abstract in English
The objective of this study was to compare the efficiency of the electrical conductivity and accelerated aging tests to evaluate bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) seed vigor. Five lots of cultivar Magali R were used and the investigations were done three times every two months. The conductivity test was done with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 24 hour of soaking, 25 seeds immersed into 25mL distilled water, at 25°C and 30°C; the accelerated aging was done at 41°C and 45°C for 48 and 72 hours, with and without NaCl saturated solution. The following additional tests were performed: moisture content, germination, first count, controlled deterioration and seedling emergence. The results confirmed the efficiency of the electrical conductivity and the accelerated aging tests for evaluate the bell pepper seed vigor.
