A presente investigação foi realizada no Departamento de Agricultura e Horticultura da Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de. Queiroz, Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brasil. O objetivo foi estudar o efeito do substrato, na germinação e vigor das sementes de 4 porta-enxertos de Citrus, bem ·como na expressão poliembriônica em ·sementes germinadas e sem germinar. Os fatores de variação foram: a) substratos: papel toalha (no germinador Stultz), solo franco e areia ·e na casa de vegetação); b) tamanhos de semente: grande, médio e pequeno; c) porta-enxertos: limão cravo, limão volkameriano, tangerina cleópatra e laranja caipira O delineamento estatístico utilizado foi o fatorial. Cada tratamento, resultante da combinação dos fatores, constava de 30 sementes e de duas repetições. A comparação entre as médias foi feita pelo teste.de Tukey, ao nível de 5%de probabilidade. Para a coleta dos dados, empregou-se os seguintes testes: germinação, emergência, matéria seca e altura das plântulas, porcentagem de poliembrionia em sementes germinada no germinador Stultz e em casa de vegetação, contagem direta de embriões. O experimento deu-se por encerrado quando as plântulas esgotaram as reservas dos cotilédones.

The experiment was finished when the seedlings exhausted the reserves of the cotyledons.
