Phylogenetic analysis among sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) and related wild species, by polymorphic restriction sites studies from total and mitochondrial DNA
Abstract in English
The mtDNA and tDNA from seven plants of the genus Beta were studied by RFLP analysis and hybridization with specific mitochondrial gene probes. Phylogenetic relationship among these plants was established by NTSYS program, using coefficient of Jaccard and Dice; their dendograms were made by UPGMA cluster analysis. Plants of Patellares section showed high genetic diversity in relation to the others, and various common fragments shared with TK81-MS plants were found in Corollinae and Patellares sections. ln general, the phylogenetic relationship among the seven plants agreed with the phylogeny established for the genus Beta through morphological and biogeographic data.
