FUNGOS MICORRÍZICOS

"Mycelial ergosterol content of isolates of Pisolithus tinctorius and Rhizopogon sp”
Abstract in English
The mycelial ergosterol content of two ectomycorrhizal fungi Pisolithus tinctorius and Rhizopogon sp) was determined by using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Five isolates of P. tinctorius (four from Eucalyptus and one from Pinus) and one isolate of Rhizopogon sp were analyzed after growth for one month in a liquid medium (Modified Melin Norkrans - MMN). The ergosterol content varied from 2,4 to 6,2 ug/mg of dry matter for the P. tinctorius isolates, whereas for the Rhizopogon sp isolate it was 11,0 ug/mg of dry matter. The ergosterol leveIs of two isolates of P. tinctorius (1604 from Eucalyptus and 185 from Pinus) were significantly lower after growth in a solid substrate (perlite + MMN solution) for one month when compared with those obtained after growth in the liquid medium (MMN without perlite). The incubation period (4 - 6 weeks) increased initially and then decreased the ergosterol content of isolate 1604 of P. tinctorius. For isolate 185, however, the ergosterol content increased and then became stable
