Title in English
Bean inoculation with Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. phaseoli and use of mutants tolerant to antibiotics
Abstract in English
It was studied under field conditions the effect of concentrations of Rhizobium in beans (Phaseolus vulgaris, L.) inoculation. Soils with low cell concentration of indigenous Rhizobium showed good response to rhizobia inoculation, with no difference in plant yield when compared with N-mineral application. Increasing the concentration of inoculant up two times the dose recommended to farmers improved the efficiency in N2-fixation. In the greenhouse and laboratory it was developed studies using Rhizobium strains marked with antibiotics. For the trial inoculating beans with Rhizobium strain CIAT-899sc, it was found 50% of nodule occupancy with this strain. Another 76 strains were also marked with several antibiotics and tested to ability in nodule formation.
