Este estudo teve o objetivo de determinar o efeito de Mn2+ na germinação de esporos e estabelecimentos em soja por 6 espécies de fungos micorrízicos vesículo-arbusculares (duas espécies de Glomus, duas de Acaulospora, uma de Gigaspora e uma de Scutellospora). Um experimento in vitro acompanhou o efeito de níveis crescentes de manganês (15, 30 e 75 ug/g de Mn2+) na germinação de esporos, com decréscimos de 32, 49 e 75%, respectivamente. Glomus foi o fungo mais afetado por Mn2+ mostrando alta sensibilidade para o efeito fungistático de Mn2+. Scutellospora heterogama e Gigaspora margarita foram mais tolerantes e menos afetadas mesmo a nível de 75 ug/g de Mn2+. Acaulospora appendiculata e A. morrowae sofreram decréscimos de até 50% na germinação de seus esporos, quando 15 ug/g de Mn2+ foram usados. Em outro experimento, a eficiência de Glomus contrabalanceou parcialmente o efeito supressivo de Mn2+ e o melhor desenvolvimento da soja com menor concentração de Mn2+ na parte aérea foram observadas em ambas as espécies. Em contrapartida, o estabelecimento de G. macrocarpum, G. etunicatum e G. margarita não foi afetado pelas doses desse elemento, com máxima de 12 ug/g. Analisando a deposição interna de Mn oxidado no sistema radicular de soja, não foram detectadas alterações qualitativas nas formas de manganês, estando s forma de manganês oxidada (Mn3+) presente na mesma proporção tanto na raíz micorrizada ou não por G. macrocarpum.

This study aimed to determine the effect of Mn2+ on spore germination and stablishment in soybean of 6 species of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (two Glomus, two Acaulospora, one Gigaspora and one Scutellospora species). An in vitro experiment studied the effect of increasing rates of Mn2+ (15, 30 and 75 ug/g) on spore germination and suppressions as high as 32, 49 and 75%, respectively, were observed. Glomus was the fungus most affected by Mn2+, showing a high sensitivity to Mn2+ fungistasis. Scutellospora heterogama and Gigaspora margarita were more tolerant and less affected even at rate of 75 ug/g of Mn2+. Acaulospora appendiculata and A. morrowae were most affected, with around 50% decreases in germination when 15 ug/g Mn2+ were used. In another experiment, the efficiency of Glomus partially counteracted the suppressive effect of Mn2+, and better soybean growth with less concentration of Mn2+ in the shoot were observed for both species. The stablishment of G. macrocarpum, G. stunicatum and G. margarita was not affected by levels of Mn2+. When analysing internal deposition of oxidized Mn in the soybean root system, it was not detected qualitative changes in the Mn forms, being the oxidized Mn form (Mn3+) present at same proportion in non-or mycorrhizal root, infected by G. macrocarpum.
