Inoculation of VAM And nitrogen (15N) and sulphur (35S) absorption by beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
Abstract in English
In order to study theuptake of nitrogen (15N) and sulphur (35S) in mycorrhiza1 bean plants (Phaseolus vulgaris), two experiments were carried out using a hidromorphic soil from lowland, with the following inoculation treatments: 1) no mycorrhizal inoculation; 2) with AAcaulospora morrowae; 3) with Glomus macrocarpum; 4) with Scutellospora heterogama; 5) with Gigaspora margarita. All treatments were inoculated with Rhizobium leguminosarum by. phaseoli strains C-05 and C-88. In the experiment with 35S, it was used a factorial design 5x4, 5 mycorrhizal treatments and 4 harvest times respectively and in the experiment with 15N, it was used a factorial design 5x5, 5 levels of N and 5 mycorrhizal inoculation treatments. The experiments were set up under greenhouse conditions, using a randomized statistical design the plants in the experiment with 35S were harvested at 14, 36, 58 and 79 days after sowing and in the experiment with 15N they were harvestat the and of the growth period. The parameters analysed were as follow: dry matter weight (shoot and pods); N, P and S content (shoot), efficiencies of N and S utilization, nitrogen derived from fixation and mycorrhizal infection in the roots. The results showed a greater N content on shoot of inoculated plants. However there was no response on the P and S contents. The inoculation with Glomus macrocarpa resulted in a better N content on shoot and greater percentage of nitrogen derived from fixation.
