Evaluation of computerized monitoring system of "in vitro" digestion and production of gas compared with the "in vitro" and "in situ" methods
Abstract in English
The aim of this research work is to evaluate the system of "in vitro" digestion through accumulative production of gas by computerized monitoring and compare it with the results obtained by the "in vitro" and "in situ" methods of digestion, using identical feed samples. Ruminal liquid of animals fistuled at the rumen was used. Several com silage: high/low dry matter inoculated/non inoculated, hay of alfafa, corn silage with 41,9 % DM and 35 % grain. Comparisons among methods were carried out only for inoculate silage for the base product of lactobacilus and streptococus due to the greater quantity of data and to the availability identical feed samples used in the previous experiments. The experimental delineation used was completely randomized in factorial scheme 2x2 to evaluate feed samples in each method, and 3x4, to evaluate the methods with identical feed samples. Two types of digestion "in vitro" - related to the residue of dry matter and by the production of gas are obtained throuht a system of digestibility. The results obtained were compared to the results from the "in vitro" and "in situ" methods by means of average comparison tests and by correlations between the production of gas (A+D) related to the potential of degradation (A+B) obtained "in situ". No significant difference (P>O,05) of digestibility "in vitro" gas of the high/low inoculate/ non inoculate dry matter of corn silage in the three systems evaluated. But when the digestibility of com silage was evaluated isolately basing on the contents of dry matter (high or low) independently of the inoculation with lactobacillus, it differed significantly (P<0,05) in the "in vitro" /gas and "in situ" systems. The results obtained by the inoculation of silages showed no significant differences among them. When equal feeds (com silage) were evaluated: high DM inoculate, low DM inoculate, high DM non inoculate and low DM non inoculate by gas production on fermentation (apparent digestibility), the results of rate of degradation (A+D) were: 21,5; 22,6; 22,1 and 20,9 ml of gas/100 mg DM, respectively. No significant difference was observed among them (P>0,05). The correlations obtained on the production of gas in relation to the potential of degradation obtained "in situ", showed themselves highly correlated to com silage: high DM inoculate (R2= 0,99), high DM non inoculate ( R2= 0,98), low DM inoculate (R2= 0,94) and low DM non inoculate (R2= 0,93). It can be concluded that the computerized system of accumulative production of gas in the "in vitro" digestion showed identical results to the other methods used in the evaluation of silage com. The digestibility by the production of gas showed a high correlation with the "in situ" digestion.
