Abstract in English
It was carried out a research in the Animal Science of the Escola Superior de Agricultura ?Luiz de Queiroz?, São Paulo University, with five esophageal fistulated steers in order to study mixed pasture intake composed by colonião (Panicum maximum), soja perene (Glycine wightii) and small amounts of grama batatais (Paspalum notatum) and angola (Brachiaria mutica). The ingested samples were collected during four periods (I - January 26-30, II - March 1-5, III - Abril 5-9 and IV - May 10-14) and analyzed for crude protein, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), cellulose, silica, lignin and ?in vitro? organic matter digestibility (IVOMD). There were no significant differences in the NDF, ADF, silica, cellulose and IVOMD between the four periods studied. The animals selected a diet rich in crude protein, with decreasing values in the IV period (P<0,05). The lignin content during the three just periods were the same but superior to the IV period (P<0,05). The ingested forages had high NDF, ADF, cellulose, silica and lignin contents but less crude protein than the pasture, probably due to the mastication process, saliva contamination and sample preparation.
