Abstract in Portuguese
Com a finalidade de se determinar o efeito, nos cortes aos 30, 45, 60 e 75 dias, sobre a produção de matéria sêca, coeficiente de digestibilidade e a concentração de N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn, mudas de capim colonião (Panicum maximum Jacq.), foram transplantadas para o solo da série Luiz de Queiroz", pertencente ao Grande Grupo Terra Roxa Estruturada. No dia posterior ao plantio cada muda recebeu em cobertura, 2,4g de N (sulfato de amônio), 3,2g de P205 (superfosfato simples), e 1,9g de K20 (cloreto de potássio). As plantas coletadas a 10 - 15 cm do solo foram separadas em haste e folha. No material coletado foi determinado o peso da matéria sêca (60ºC), o coeficiente de digestibilidade. in vivo, e determinadas as concentraçoos de N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cu, Fe, Mn, e Zn - pelos métodos convencionais. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos ao acaso, com três repetições. Conclusões: 1. Peso da matéria sêca. A relação haste/folha varia com o envelhecimento da planta. O peso da matéria seca é maior na haste do que na folha. Há uma relação linear positiva entre aumento de peso de matéria sêca da folha e da idade planta. 2. Coeficiente de digestibilidade. Diminui com a idade da planta, não havendo diferenças entre haste e folha. 3. Elementos minerais. A concentração de N, P, Cu, Fe e Zn diminui com o aumento da idade da planta. A concentração de K, Ca, Mg, S e Mn não é afetada pela idade da planta. 4. Exigências do animal. As épocas de coleta do capim não afetaram os teores mínimos em minerais exigidos pelo bovino.

The effect of cutting frequency of guinea grass (Panicum maximum Jacq.) at 30, 45, 60 and 75 days on the dry matter, digestibility and minerals content
Abstract in English
Young Guinea grass plants were transplanted to a soil of the serie Luiz de Queiroz, which belongs to he group of soils Terra Roxa Estruturada (Olfisol) at Piracicaba, S.P, Brasil. On the forthcoming day after planting, each plant, received by dressing 2.4gr. of N (ammonium sulfate), 3,2gr. of P205 (normal superphosphate) and 1.9gr. of K20 (potassium chloride). The plants were cutten at the height of 10 cm. from the ground and divided into leaves and stems. The dry matter content was obtained at 60ºC. Digestibility was determined in vivo by the nylon bag technique. The mineral content was determined by conventional laboratories methods for N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn. The experimental designed was by randomised bloes with three replications. Conclusions: Dry matter production. The relation stem/leave was altered by the aging of the plants. The dry matter content was higher in the stem their in the leaves. A linear positive relation was observed among the dry matter productions and age of the plants. Digestibility. Decreases with aging of the grass. No differences among the leaves and the stem was observed. Minerals.The concentration of N, P, Cu, Fe and Zn decreased with the aging of the grass. The concentration of K, Ca, Mg, S and Mn were not affected by - the aging of the grass animal nutrition. Animal nutrition. The minimum mineral nutrients requirements for large animals were not affected by cutting frequency of the grass.
