Title in English
Potassium fertilization calibration to the sugarcane crop through soil chemical analysis
Abstract in English
This paper presents results of a calibration study of potassium fertilizers. Calibration curves were obtained correlating enchangeable potassium in the soil with relative yield of sugarcane in 22 trials in plant cane and 13 in first ratoon. Five classes of potassium level in the soil were defined: very low (< 32 ppm K), low (32-61 ppm K), medium (62-102 ppm K), high (103-206 ppm K) and very high (>206 ppm K) for plant cane and very low (< 25 ppm K), low (25-48 ppm K), medium (49-82 ppm K), high (83-166 ppm K) and very high (> 166 ppm K) for ratoons. Using these classes and the unit prices of K2O and cane the recommended economic potassium dose was calculated to be between 0 to 140kg K2O/ha for plant cane and between 0 to 130kg K2O/ha in ratoon
