Title in English
Absorption of nutrients and macronutrients and boro malnutrition symptoms in chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat.) cultivar Golden Polaris
Abstract in English
In order to obtain: 1st) growth rate of the chrysanthemum plant; 2nd) the concentration of macro and micro nutrients in the organs of the plant, in accordance with its development; 3rd) the accumulation of nutrients by the plant; 4th) the deficiency symptoms of macronutrients and boro, related to the nutrient levels in the plant; two experiments were carried out: a) field trial: a commercial chrysanthemum plantation was executed at Campinas, in fertilized soil. Plants (four repIications, randomized test) with 6, 27, 55, 69, 83, 97, 111 and 125 days after planting were collected and divided into stems and leaves for macro and micronutrients analysis; b) greenhouse experiment: chrysanthemums plants were cultivated in pots containing pure quartz and irrigated with nutrient solutions with the follows compositions: with full solution and others lacking N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S and B. After the symptoms were clearly identified, the plants were harvested, divided into young leaves, old leaves, stems and flowers and analysed for the elements. The main conclusions are: - the plant growth is constant until the fifty fifth day showing after this period, a quick and continuous increase in the stems until the final cycle culture; in the leaves, the growth was stabilized after the one hundred and eleventh day; - after 125 days in the field, the quantity of estimated dry matter, produced per plant, in the stems, was 17 g (68%) and in the leaves, was 8 g (32%); added together, was equal to 25 g per plant; - in the stems and leaves, the nutrient concentrations are unstable and vary in accordance with the growth of the plant; - the concentrations of N, K, Mg, S and Fe diminished in the stems and leaves while the contents of P increased in the stems and Ca, in the leaves. The elements B, Zn and Cu showed a large variation in its contents; - after 125 days of planting, the accumulation of nutrients by the stems and leaves of a plant is: K - 689.0 mg; N - 458.0 mg; Ca - 130.0 mg; Mg - 52.0 mg; P - 46.0 mg; S - 35.0 mg; Mn - 11.0 mg; Fe - 7.0 mg; Zn - 3.0 mg; B - 1.3 mg e Cu - 1.0 mg; - the malnutrition symptoms appear, in sequence for the elements N, B, S, K, Ca, P and Mg, being more prominent with treatments of -N, -K, -8 and -Ca; - the nutrient levels in the leaves without malnutrition symptoms, expressed in percentage or part per millian af dry matter were: N % - 1.92-2.25; P % - 0.08-0.13; K % - 2.79-2.87; Ca % 1.18-1.68; Mg % 0.70-0.93; S % - 0.10 - 0.13 and 8 ppm - 56.5-67.25; - the levels of nutrients in unsound leaves, expressed in percentage or part per million of dry matter were: N % -0.73; P % -0.003; K % -0.42; Ca % -0.46; Mg % -0.48; 5 % -0.10 and 8 ppm -33.07.
