Natural regeneration and plantation of Brachiaria brizantha (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) Stapf and native herbaceous species in the landslide areas of the sea mountain in Cubatão - SP, Brazil
Resumé en anglais
A study was carried out to verify how the seeded species would interfere in the recomposition of the native vegetation on the Sea Mountain, in Cubatão, State of São Paulo. Eight areas were selected for studying. Four landslide areas were planted with a exotic species (Brachiaria brizantha) and another four with native herbaceous species. Eight samples were taken in the planted area and another eight were taken in its neighborhood, four years and half after the planting of the eight species. The results showed that all planted species interfered in the natural regeneration process. B. brizantha was the most interfering species, while Calathea sp. was lhe least one. Among the planted native species, Heliconia velloziana L. Emidg. was the most limiting to the natural regeneration process. The other three herbaceous species, Philodendron imbe Schott, Pleurostachys sellowii Kunth and Mikania lanuginose D.C. had only an intermediate effect on the natural regeneration process.
