Mineral nutrition of guarana (Paullinia cupana var. sorbilis (Mart.) Ducke) cultivated in Porto Velho, Rondonia
Abstract in English
The guaraná (Paullinia cupana var. sorbilis (Mart.) Ducke) has been cultivated in Rondônia, especially in acid soils with pH in the 4.0-5.4 range. The soils has a very poor content of calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and a high aluminium saturation. In this moment, guaraná is a good alternative for occupation of the acid soils of the humid tropics, but is necessary obtain basic information of mineral nutrition this crop. The main objective of this work was to study the more adequate levels of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium in guaraná clones cultivated in oxisols of the tropics. The trial was delineated incomplete factorial design in splits plots with 3 replications. In the plots was studied the fertilization levels and in sub-plots the guaraná clones. In the conditions that was conducted the trial the results obtained showed that: the 346 clone was more productive that 347 and 352 clones and that it wasn't differences among the treatments in relation to fertilizer applications. This results show that is necessary the realization of extensive studies on guaraná plant to soils deficient in essential elements.
