Keywords in Portuguese
ÁGUA DO SOLO
PARÂMETROS HÍDRICOS DO SOLO
VERMICULITA
Title in English
Influence of vermiculite incorporation into three types of soil on some of its hydric parameters
Abstract in English
This work was carried out at Soil Physics Laboratories of the Nuclear Energy Center for Agriculture (CENA), University of São Paulo, Piracicaba (SP), Brazil. Its objective was to study the influence of incorporation into the soil of expanded vermiculite with different grains size on the following parameters: water retention, saturated hydraulic conductivity, saturation soil-water content and soil-water redistribution. Three types of soil were used: one of fine texture (“Terra Roxa Estruturada”) , one of medium texture (“Latossol Vermelho Amarelo”) and one of coarse texture (Areia Quartzosa) sampled in the field from the surface (0-30 cm) layer. Five were the types of vermiculite utilized, according to the size of their grains: big, medium, fine, superfine and micron which were incorporated into the soils at a concentration of 10% by volume. From the analysis of results the following could be concluded: the expanded vermiculite mixture into the soil at the concentration of 10% by volume influence the behavior of the hydric parameters studied; the types of vermiculite with more fine grains seem to be more efficient in improving the hydric conditions of the soils, mainly the sandy soils.
