Biomass, nutrient concentration and contents in taxi (Sclerolobium paniculatum, Vogel) of different ages, in Belterra, Pará

Abstract in English
Taxi (Sclerolobium paniculatum, Vogel) trees grown at the experimental station in Belterra, Pará of 12, 24, 60, 72, 108 and 180 months were felled for study. Their components ( leaves, branches and trunk) were weighed and _chemically analyzed with the objective of verifying the production and distribution of biomass and the concentration, distribution and content of the plant s nutrients. Biomass increased as the plants aged, due to the increase in volume of the trunk, while other components stabilized by ninth year. The concentrations of macronutrients in the plant tissue of various components tends to decrease with age. The greatest concentration of nutrientes occurred in the leaves, followed by trunk. Nitrogen was the nutrient concentration in all of the cornponents. The ratio nutrient/dry xxii the branches and with the highest material decreased with plant age. Values of 14.8 and 5.7 were observed at 12 and 108 months. Nitrogen was the macronutrient most extracted, while phosphorus was the most exported, by the trunk of trees 108 months old. Among the micronutrients iron was extracted more and boron exported. The most efficiently used nutrients were: phosphorous in the younger age group, magnesium in the rniddle age group and sulphur in the older trees. The lowest index of utilization eff iciency among all of the macronutrients, was obtained by nitrogen in all of the age groups.
