Influence of the relation k/(Ca+Mg) of the soil in dry matter production and potassium absorption by grass and leguminous forage

Abstract in English
The present work was planned and carried out to check the influence of different relations K/(Ca+Mg) of the Soil, in the production of dry matter and in the K absorption in relation to Ca+Mg by a grass - capim colonião - variedade Tobiatã (Panicum maximum, Jacq.) and a leguminous-soja perene comum (Glycine wightii, Willd) cultived isolately and in association; to check the influence of potassium potential (pk-0,5 p(Ca+Mg) to the soil in K absorption in relation to Ca+Mg by forages; and to set nutritional relations between the K and Ca+Mg leveIs of the soil for the best development of forages cultivated isolately and ln association. The study consisted of two installations of experiments in a greenhouse, in plastic pots with 10 liters of capacity, using superficial samples of two soils, a Latossolic B Terra Roxa (LR) and a Red-Yellow Latosol-sandy phase CLVa), both showing high acidity and shorts leveIs of Ca, Mg and K. The experiments were conducted following a delineation completely casual, in a factorial scheme 4x6, envolving, for each soil, four cultures and six relations K/(Ca+Mg)(1/32,5; 1/25; 1/17,5; 1/12,5; 1/7,5 and 1/5 in LVa and 1/65; 1/50; 1/35; 1/20; 1/12,5 and 1/7,5 in LR). To attain these relations, the soils received determined quantities of potassium chloride , calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, all p.a. drugs and left in incubation for a period of thirty days, after that proceded to forages planting. After the plants reached a stage of development considered ideal, they were out, weighed and analysed chemically, determining the content of K, Ca and Mg in dry matter. These operations were repeated 3 times, the total number of cuttings. At the time of each cutting, soil samples were taken from each vase, to determine the potassium potential. The obtained data permited to observe that both the grass and leguminous cultures showed increases in values of the relation K/(Ca+Mg) in dry matter, proportion to the elevation of these relations in both soils, and that leguminous showed higher absorption affinity of K and Ca+Mg than the grasses. To the grass isolated and associated cultures and associated leguminous culture, the data suggest that values of pk-0,5p(Ca+Mg) higher than 2,6 indicate K deficiency in soils. Inside the limits of the relations K/(Ca+Mg) in soils used in this work, it is suggested that the higher the value of this relation, the higher the development of the grasses cultures will be, while to the leguminous in isolated culture, relations K/(Ca+Mg) in soil around the variation 1/25-1/20 are the most appropriated.
