Abstract in Portuguese
A calagem e a adubação seguiram as normas ditadas pelo Boletim nº 100, do I.A.C.

Abstract in English
The study was developed at Centro de Energia Nuclear na Agricultura (C.E.N.A.), Piracicaba, SP, from october 20 th 1987 to may rd 1988, in vases under green house conditions, the objective was to quantify the efficience of ammonium sulfate and urea fertilizers applied at different periods, and urea fertilizers applied at different periods, and the flooded rice to demand hydric of using Amazon floodplain (varzea) soil. The fertilization and irrigation schemes adopted were identical to the ones currenthy in use in South and Southeastern regions of Brazil. The Liming and fertilization followed the rules of nº 100 IAC Bulletin, for irrigated rice, with the exception of nitrogen, where the equivalent to 100 kg N/ha was applied splited three times: at planting and 35 and 70 days after. The N sources used were ammonium sulfate, (natural and marked with 10,137% of 15N) and urea (natural and marked with 10,772% of 15N). The cultivar used was the IAC 4440. The experiment consisted of 21 vases with 3 plants each where a constant head of 4 cm was maintained. Leached water was collected during the period between Dec. /22 nd/87 to april/18 th/88. The average value for evapotranspiration was 12,62 mm/day. With three other vases, under the same conditions, but without plants, the average evaporation was 4mm/day. By subtractin the average value of transpiration was calculated to be 10 mm/day. Completely randon statistical treatment was used with seven treatments and three replication, as gotlawed: Treatment 1: control, limed and fertilized (no nitrogen). Treatment 2: The Labelled urea was applied at planting mixed with soil. From other aplication of N were marche at 35 and 70 days with natural urea Treatment 3: The labelled urea was applied at 35 days after planting, the other two (planting and 70 days) received natural urea. Treatment 4: The Labelled was applied at the 70 th day after planting. The other two were done with natural urea. The Treatment 5, 6 and 7 were repetitions of 2, 3 and 4, replacing the urea source by ammonium sulfate. The soil, the leached water, plants and grain were analysed. Under the experimental condition, used the ammonium sulfate showed and average efficiency of (44,22%) and the urea (30,44%). With regard to the application period, the sulfate showed a better efficiency at 35 days with an average value of (66,20%). The urea showed an opposite trend with better indicating the efficiencies at plantings (28%) and 70 days (34%) with average efficiency of (30,64% and (46,85%) respectively. The 15N in the leached water was less than (0,57%) of the applied. The roots recovered around (70,6%) of the fertilizers nitrogen, the soil 16,57% and the average losses for volatilization and denitrification were (47,63%).
