Comparison of sources and levels of phosphatic fertilizer applied in a cerrado soil and their effects on yield of soybean (Glycine max (L) Merril) crop
Resumo em inglês
Generally speaking, phosphorus is a limiting plant nutrient in Cerrado soils. The present work was carried out with the objecti ve of investigating this fact, through the comparison of the ef fects of three sources of phosphorus applied in four levels, on the grain yield of soybeans (Glycine max (L) Merril). The Cerrado soil used was a Dark Red Latosol from the experimental farm of Ilha Solteira UNESP Campus, located in county of Selvíria (MS). The soybean variety chosen was UFV-1. Two cropping periods were studied. In the first one, the phosphorus sources were triple superphosphate, Mg-Yoorin thermophosphate and "Araxá n rock phosphate; the phosphorus levels were calculated according to the WAUGH and FITTS (1966) procedure as modified by FERREIRA et alii (1978), considering the factors 0.5-1.0-1.5 and 2.0 times the X value. Fertilizers were broadcast and then incorporated in top 0-20 cm of the soil. In the second cropping period, the residual effect of the first cropping period treatments and five maintenance phosphorus (triple superphosphate) fertilization levels, in banded application, were studied. ln order to evaluate the results of the experiment, values of pH, exchangeable Al3+, exchangeable Ca2+ + Mg2+ and P soluble in 0.03N NH4F 0,03N + HCl 0,025N (Bray-l) were determined in soil samples taken from the field in different periods (October and November, 1978; March and November, 1979; March, 1980). Grain yields of the two cropping periods were also considered. Results have shown that the soil reacted positively to the phosphorus fertilization. The X value calculated for the corrective fertilization offered maximurn economic efficiency for the Mg-Yoorin thermophosphate in the second cropping period. The Mg-Yoorin thermophosphate, used as a corrective fertilized, showed frorn the technical point of view, a behavior similar to that of the triple superphosphate in the first cropping period, but it was better with respecti to residual effects. The Araxá rock phosphate increased the agronomic efficiency with or without banded maintenance fertilization in the second cropping period. Its efficiency in comparison with the triple superphosphate was higher than 80% with or without banded maintenance fertilization.
