Keywords in Portuguese
CONSUMO DE ÁGUA
REPOLHO
Title in English
Assessment of water requirements by the cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.)
Abstract in English
The water consumption was determined for a cabbage crop (throughout summer and winter cycles) grown in the “município” of Botucatu-SP (22° 51’S, 48°26’W). For these determinations 2 evapotranspirometers with constant water table level, adapted for the crop, were utilized. Simultaneously, determinations were made of the crop coefficients by several conventional methods of evapotranspiration, and some local adaptations of the Penman (1948) and Thornthwaite (1948) methods were proposed. The results obtained for the water consumption (469.7 and 445.1 mm in the summer cycle, and 357.5 mm in the winter cycle) and the ease of operation demonstrated that these evapotranspirometer types area viable for water requirement studies, crop coefficient determinations and for checking methods of estimation of reference evapotranspiration.
