Title in English
Physiological evaluation of two wheat ( Ttriticum aestivum (L.) Thell) varieties under water stress
Abstract in English
The work was carried out in the experimental area of the Plant Physiology Section of the State of São Paulo Agronomic Institute, Campinas (SP), Brazil (22°54’ S; 47°5’W; 674 m above sea level). Its objectives were (I) to compare, from the physiological point of view, two wheat varieties (IAC 287 and IAC 24) under water stress in the reproductive phase of the plant, and (II) to evaluate the physiological parameters during the phase of induction and the phase of recovery of the water stress in order to indicate the most adequate variety to the region. Under the experiment conditions results have shown that: the variety IAC 287 was more efficient than the IAC 24 in the transpiratory and photosynthetic processes during the phase of induction and the phase of recovery of the water stress, showed the higher capacity of recovery; it also produces more biomass than variety IAC 24 and was more effective in terms of productivity.
