Abstract in Portuguese
Pine Ridge - Belize.

Abstract in English
This research deals with the analysis of the behavior of 13 provenances of i>Pinus caribaea Morelet, and is part of a program of study of provenances which is being carried out by the Commonwealth Forestry Institute - University of Oxford. The experiment was set in an area of the “Companhia Agro Florestal Monte Alegre”, in Agudos, State of São Paulo, Brazil, in February 1973. The statistical design was there randomized blocks, with 13 provenances and 5 replications. The data of the variables: diameter breast height, total height, cylindrical volume per hectare and survival, for the years of 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1982 and 1984, were collected and analyzed. The results were as follows: there occurred variations in height among the provenances in the first years, decreasing with age, being not significant at 11 years; the best provenances for development in height were Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis from Mt. Pine Ridge - Belize and from Poptun - Guatemala. There occurred variations in diameter among provenances for all the ages analyzed and the best 11-years-old provenances for the development of diameter were i>Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis from Guanaja - Honduras, and from Mt. Pine Ridge - Belize. There occurred variations in cylindrical volume among provenances for all the ages analyzed and the best 11-years-old provenances were i>Pinus caribaea var. hondurensis from Guanaja - Honduras, and from Mt. Pine Ridge - Belize.
